Ground Breaking Affiliation Combines Innovative New Anti-Addiction Protocol with
one of the Most Exclusive Rehabilitation Centers in Southern California
MALIBU, CA (June 28, 2007) -- Leading rehabilitation center Stone Eagle Retreat and The
Prometa® Treatment Center have joined forces in an addiction management partnership to provide treatment to individuals addicted to alcohol, cocaine and methamphetamines, it was announced today by Nancy Szakacsy, Clinical Director and Co-Founder of Stone Eagle Retreat.
Based in Santa Monica, CA, the
Prometa® Center will work in tandem with Stone Eagle Retreat's patients, providing them with medical history and physical examinations, outpatient treatment detoxification,
Prometa® protocol administration, and overall medical care. This medical procedure is based on the
Prometa® anti-addiction drug that was developed, owned and licensed by drug manufacturer Hythiam, Inc. The
Prometa® protocol has been remarkably successful in the treatment of alcohol, cocaine and methamphetamine addictions, with a preliminary average recovery rate of 86%. The medical treatment is administered under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Torrington and Dr. Charles J. Burstin.
Studies on the drug's efficacy are currently being conducted by hospital chain Kaiser Permanente, the Mayo Clinic, and the UCLA Medical Center. An additional double blind clinical study will be completed by the beginning of November 2007.
The
Prometa® Center is owned by well-known addiction expert Dr. David E. Smith, founder of The Haight Ashbury Free Clinics of San Francisco. Dr. Smith is recognized as a national leader in addiction medicine, the psychopharmacology of drugs, new research strategies in the management of drug abuse problems, and proper prescribing practices for physicians. Dr. Smith is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of California, San Francisco.
Addiction specialist Nancy Szakacsy is a veteran in the treatment and implementation of addiction therapies. She has a plethora of experience in the field of addiction and recovery, having served as a psychotherapist at well-known inpatient recovery center Passages, learning disability treatment center Re-Socialization Skills, Inc., and Rainbow Recovery Centers, where she treated many felons and addicts who were court-ordered to receive addiction therapy. She also founded the Insight Institute Center for Psychoanalytic and Behavioral Growth.
